Earlier today, we had the most original, kick-in-the-pants shower ever. An update on that will come soon.
To give you a sense of it, I’ll let you know that Curtis won a bronze medal in Speed Diapering, and I was crushed when I lost my shot at a medal for baby bowling after a rogue doll toss cost me a strike. Decorations were hot pink and turquoise, because I don’t care for pastels. And even in this heat, we survived, on account of a bountiful supply of Diet Coke on ice.
We let our shower hosts reveal the gender to the group. There were balloons and confetti guns and a parachuting doll…all in blue.
It’s a boy!
And we shall call him Riley Patrick.
Riley because we liked it. It means valiant, and so I pray Psalm 118 for him.
The Lord is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation.
The sound of joyful shouting and salvation is in the tents of the righteous; the right hand of the Lord does valiantly.
The right hand of the Lord is exalted; the right hand of the Lord does valiantly.
I will not die, but live, and tell of the works of the Lord.
Patrick is the name of one of Curtis’ two brothers. Curtis is an only child, but when he was two, his brother Patrick was born with Niemann Pick and lived for 3 months. When Curtis was four, his brother Austin was born with Neimann Pick and he lived for 4 years. So if another boy comes our way in the future, his middle name will be Austin.
Photos and fun from the shower will follow soon. Happy weekend, and stay cool!
Meredith!! Congratulations!!! Riley Patrick, such a great name!! 🙂 So happy for you and Curtis!! 🙂
We anxiously await little Riley’s arrival! How great is our God!!
Congrats Meredith and Curtis…love the choice for his name. Grace and Peace to you
I love the name, love that it has meaning to you and honors Curtis’ brother. So happy for you both!
Love the name, love that you’re having a boy. The Lord IS exaulted in Riley.
