Thankful Thursday

This Thursday, there are three things I’m thankful for that I thought I’d share with you.  (Sorry for that terrible amount of alliteration.)

1.  Baby Showers.  Baby showers are even better than bridal showers.  On both occasions the ones thrown for me were so wonderful and lovely.  But being thrown a baby shower is just so fun.  We’ve had three showers, each one perfect and yet so different from each other.

Yesterday was a shower at work, and I was struck, not for the first time, by how great it is to work with smart, kind, caring people who remember how bad this year started and celebrate where this year is ending.

2.  Cream cheese frosting.  We had some of my favorite cake at yesterday’s shower and I consistently find that cream cheese frosting is just one of the signs of God’s goodness in the world.

3.  Two words:  low-risk.  At the first appointment we had in April, I asked if we were low-risk this time, with just a singleton and no indication that what happened before was anything other than a fluke.  But that doctor said that so many factors go into risk and really that’s just not something you can determine and blah, blah, blah.  In our law-suit preventative medical system, once you’ve experienced a “spontaneous abortion”, the doctors will not say you are low-risk.

But this week the doctor said it.

Those words cleared a block inside me, opening up new space for peace, and even excitement, something I really wanted for these final 6 weeks.

What are you thankful for right now?

  1. Thankful that Colin received an “All Clear” two weeks ago and thankful that you and Curtis will have Riley in your arms in December.

  2. Low risk are the two greatest words in the English language! SO glad you go to hear them. Enjoy your coming Christmas gift! My prayers are with you!!!!
